Sea Roots
รากทะเลTaste
Golden | Aromatic | Gently Spicy | Earthy | Fresh Herbal Finish
A house-made Ya Dong from Baan Talay’s herbal library, infused for 7 days with Chalong Bay Rum, pandan, fresh turmeric, fresh ginger and kaffir lime leaf.
Unlike the old jars made only from dried roots and bark, Sea Roots is built from living Thai kitchen ingredients — the kind washed, sliced and prepared by hand in a home by the sea. Fresh turmeric gives the infusion its golden earthiness, ginger brings gentle heat, pandan softens the edges with green sweetness, while kaffir lime leaf lifts the finish with a clean Thai citrus scent.
Folk Wisdom Note
In Thai household wisdom, turmeric and ginger are often associated with warmth, comfort and gentle restoration, while pandan and kaffir lime leaf are loved for their calming green aroma and fresh citrus lift. Together, they create a warming herbal infusion that feels familiar, fragrant and quietly energising after a long day.
Morning Market
ตลาดเช้าTaste
Green | Fresh | Peppery | Aromatic | Market-Herbal
A fresh and lively Ya Dong from our own herbal library, built around the green aromatics of a Thai morning market ; holy basil, Thai basil, mint and pandan, slowly infused in Chalong Bay Rum.
This jar is inspired by the first walk through a local fresh market before the day begins: bunches of basil still wet from washing, mint stacked in woven baskets, pandan tied in green bundles and the sharp, peppery scent of herbs rising from the stalls. Unlike the deeper, root-led Ya Dong of the old cabinet, Morning Market is brighter and more lifted. It carries the feeling of Thai kitchen herbs at their freshest. A small pour that feels like the market waking up.
Folk Wisdom Note
In Thai household wisdom, everyday kitchen herbs are valued not only for flavour but for the way they bring freshness, comfort and balance to the meal. Holy basil and Thai basil are loved for their peppery warmth, mint for its cooling lift, and pandan for its soft green fragrance. Together, they create a Ya Dong that feels bright, refreshing and gently awakening.
Stand TALL
โด่ไม่รู้ล้มTaste
Earthy | Bitter-Herbal | Warming | Bold | Old-School
A playful Ya Dong from our Library, built around Do Mai Ru Lom — a hardy forest herb whose name carries both resilience and a wink.
Found in open forests and sandy soils across Thailand, this small ground-hugging plant is known for a curious habit: when pressed down, it rises back again. From this character comes its Thai name, “the one that does not fall”, a name that has long invited humour, folk belief and conversation around the Thai table.
Folk Wisdom Note
Do Mai Ru Lom has long been appreciated as a warming and invigorating herb. Traditionally, its roots and whole plant are dried, brewed or steeped in spirit and associated with restoring body warmth, easing tiredness after physical work, encouraging vitality and supporting a sense of strength after a long day.
Lady’s Sigh
นารีรำพึงTaste
Woody | Warm | Rounded | Bitter-Sweet | Softly Spicy | Iingering
A quietly seductive Ya Dong named Naree Rum Peung — “the lady’s sigh.” Softer in name than Stand Tall, but no less rooted in old household wisdom.
Recipes of Naree Rum Peung vary from one herbal maker to another, often bringing together a layered blend of Thai roots, bark and forest herbs such as Fang Daeng, Kamphaeng Chet Chan, Kamlang Suea Khrong, Ma Krathuep Rong and Do Mai Ru Lom. Each ingredient adds its own depth. This jar carries the mood of an old Thai remedy shelf — rounded, warming and quietly powerful. It is a pour that does not shout; it lingers, softens the body and leaves a trace of herbal warmth behind.
Folk Wisdom Note
In Thai folk wisdom, Naree Rum Peung is traditionally associated with body warmth, easing tired muscles, supporting circulation, encouraging appetite and restoring gentle strength after a long day. Its blended herbs are often dried, brewed or steeped in spirit, creating a warming infusion appreciated for both comfort and vitality.
